When you’re living in the city or the suburbs you get used to the everyday life and the hustle and bustle. Days turn into nights and back into days living your life within the confines of your home or office. We all try hard to bring nature inside these walls… yet we need to truly be in nature. They say nature nurtures and it does. Everybody needs to get out into nature and reconnect with Pachamama, Mother Earth. In the Inca tradition, Mother Earth is called Pachamama. She is the mother of all life on Earth and is responsible for the creation of all living things. Pacha means Earth – world, landscape, land, soil and time – while mana means mother – soul and essence It also means mother of all space and time.

“The Earth does not belong to us, but we belong to it, because we are her sons and daughters. Who owns the land? Pachamama is our mother and in this home we live as humans, animals and plants.”

These words belong to René Machaca

It is one thing to be in our backyards but you need to be in the wild unkept nature areas any kind of forest preserve, Bureau of Land Management all have many of these areas to hike and camp in. Unplug from all technical devices to truly connect with the real world as part of Pachamama.

Here are some suggestions for connecting your mind, body, and soul:

Hike through the untouched land and find nature’s treasures such as pine cones, rocks, feathers, herbs, flowers, and more. Bring these natural items in your home to create a spiritual nature alter.

Drum, rattle or flute. Music of any kind soothes the soul. Drumming for example reduces stress, helps heal trauma, may help with physical and mental health, helps with rhythmic trance states. Connects you to Mother Earth through the beat of the drum you beat as one with Earth.

Practice breathing techniques.

Connect with your spirit animal. This really is not as difficult as it may seem. The animal that keeps showing up for you and around you is your spirit animal. This guide can be discovered either in nature or through shamanic journeying.
